We’re always trying to deliver products to our customers in the most cost efficient and expedited manner possible.  And we want you to have options for getting HeadBlade products delivered straight to your door.  We’re now excited to add FedEx’s newest offering “SmartPost” which is a joint venture between FedEx and USPS.  Essentially you’ll be getting FedEx shipping with USPS delivery to your door at a discount!

This blog will give you a rundown of all our of discount pricing options along with a comparison on the new offering to show ‘real world’ savings by using FedEx SmartPost!

First off, all of our shipping options are weight based, so the more creams you add to your cart, the more expensive the shipping.  To combat that we have created Shave Plans that give you FREE shipping with any repeat blade purchase.  In those shipments you can also include creams and other items and enjoy the same 100% discount. You just need to be on a 30/60/90 day replenishment schedule.  These are automated and can be cancelled at any time.

The second way we’ve made shipping FREE is by allowing any US/domestic purchase over $50 to qualify for FREE FedEx Home Delivery.  If you want to purchase once or twice a year, just make sure your basket (without tax) is over $50, you’ll get FREE shipping.

For those of you who have an Amazon Prime account, we understand the advantages of using this service.  If you do order from Amazon, please keep in mind our APPROVED Amazon partners; Etailz and MetaRetail.  You may see other HeadBlade items offered by various suppliers.  We strongly recommend you only on purchase on Amazon through our store or Etailz and Meta.  Amazon Prime offers FREE 2-Day shipping on Prime orders.

The newest, discounted, option on HeadBlade.com, as I mentioned above, is FedEx’s new SmartPost.  Here are a few scenarios which show actual ‘purchases’ and the shipping options.

We took a MOTO Kit and added it to the basket.  Then we decided to pick one city in each corner of the country; Maine, Seattle, California, and Miami, and compare rates.  They are below.  In most cases you will see a $2 discount with the new method.  Every penny counts!  Please note in this example there is a FREE bottle of SPF which adds weight (and postage) to the shipment.  If you didn’t want the free SPF you can remove it from the basket and the shipping cost will go down further!

Since its introduction online last November, and in all Walgreens stores in February, the new HeadBlade MOTO has become the new standard in headshaving.

HeadBlade MOTO Razor Wins Red Dot Award for Its High Quality Design

LOS ANGELES, CA – April 3, 2017 –After several days of assessing thousands of products from all over the world, the HeadBlade MOTO Razor received and merited the distinction, “Red Dot” Award Winner, for its industrial design marrying form and function in the bath.

The new MOTO Razor designed by HeadBlade President and Founder Todd Greene, cites an outstanding design the expert committee for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 has recognised with the internationally with its sought-after seal of quality.

The new HeadBlade MOTO, now incorporating a fully rotational ball for added manoeuvrability, brings headshaving to a new level.  HeadBlade has been at the forefront of headcare since its first design in 1999. That model, the HeadBlade Classic, is in the permanent collection of MoMA in New York.

“The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. They have recognised that good design and economic success go hand in hand. The award by the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and is indicative of their successful design policy,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award.

The significance of the international design competition, Red Dot Award: Product Design, with its headquarter in Essen, Germany is well-established internationally. It was more than 60 years ago a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. Since then, an expert team has been awarding the seal of quality for good design and innovation to the outstanding designs of the year.

Manufacturers and designers around the globe were also invited to enter their products in the 2017 competition. The jury of around 40 independent designers, design professors and specialist journalists tested, discussed and assessed each individual product, awarding the Honourable Mention for a well-conceived detail solution, the Red Dot for high design quality and the Red Dot: Best of the Best for groundbreaking design. In total, the competition received more than 5,500 entries from 54 countries this year.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 will culminate in Essen on 3 July 2017. This is when the Red Dot: Best of the Best laureates receive their trophies during the Red Dot Gala award ceremony. At the subsequent Designers’ Night after-show party, the award winners will celebrate in the midst of all the prize-winning products in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, and the Red Dot winners will receive their well-earned certificates. For five weeks, the special exhibition “Design on Stage” will present the awarded products of the year as part of the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design.

The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2017/2018 also comes out on 3 July. The international reference work for award-winning design presents all of the year’s winning products. They will also be presented on the Internet, in particular in the online presentation, the Red Dot App and on the design platform Red Dot 21.

In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. S4 MOTO

S4-MOTOsAnyone familiar with HeadBlade knows that every standard HeadBlade model is the basis for a VERY special S4 Limited Edition. This week we are introducing two!  They OFFICIALLY go on sale Monday, December 19th but will be pre-released via our newsletter!  So sign up for the newsletter, which is located on the bottom of our homepage.

In November we brought you the all-new HeadBlade MOTO, featuring a free flowing ‘track ball’ and dual active suspension.  It has lived up to the HeadBlade tradition of creating new and progressive designs that make headshaving even easier!   The reviews have been amazing!

We are happy to introduce TWO specific Limited Edition S4 MOTO’s at this time; the S4 MOTO and the S4 MOTO Industrial.  They are mechanically identical yet very different beasts.

The S4 MOTO, limited to a run of 3,000 units, fits with our traditional S4 variant of a standard HeadBlade; it is hand polished stainless steel and brings additional weight and torque for an extremely smooth shave.  The S4 MOTO retails for $80.

The S4 MOTO Industrial is limited to ONLY 12 pieces and is unfinished, just as it came out of the wax cast.  The back edge has been sanded and the unit has been quality tested to make sure there are no rough edges.  But other than that, it is UNFINISHED.

Todd Greene, founder of HeadBlade and still lead designer, then used a hand-held engraver to sign his name and number each unit.  Todd isn’t a professional engraver (by any means) but you will never see another S4 MOTO Industrial razor.  Use it, display it, or save it as a collectors item; up to you! But 12 units will obviously sell out within a day or two.  The S4 MOTO Industrial is $125.

All New HeadBlade MOTO!!

It’s not often we introduce a brand new HeadBlade.

The original HeadBlade,  which is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art and was also named  one of the “Ten Best Designs” in the world in 2000 by TIME Magazine.  Over the next decade the HeadBlade evolved into the HeadBlade Sport and spawned limited edition  models such as the S4 Classic, the S4 Shadow, the S4 Eclipse, and the S4 Lunar Eclipse.

It is still in production today.

In 2012 we released the ATX which is by far the easiest to use headshaver on the market and is a completely different design than the HeadBlade Sport; it uses the more traditional pulling method favored by most shavers.  Even though most HeadBladers favor the ATX over the Sport, there are still a few hold-outs.

Using the knowledge and technology we’ve learned over the past 16 years our mission with the MOTO was to create the ULTIMATE HeadBlade; one that both Classic/Sport and ATX  users would agree is the pinnacle of headshaving.

How did we do it?  It wasn’t easy and wasn’t fast.

Even though the original was pure and functional there is a fairly steep learning curve. For some people it was just too different.

The ATX was a huge advancement (and a lot easier to use) but the finger ring was a bit unforgiving and the wheels, although functional, caused some issues around the ears and around the nape of the neck. Because the blade did not rotate side to side it was fairly easy to miss some spots, which is common with any razor.

The idea of the MOTO is that the fully articulating body allows the blade to follow the surface of your skin while you drive the razor along your scalp. The blade will pivot both side to side and up and down. The ball allows the oody of the MOTO to be very narrow which allows you to hug along the back side of your ears without impeding the blade.  It also makes the unit much easier to hold when face shaving.

In some ways the MOTO is the successor to the ATX like the Sport replaced the Classic.  But in creating this new and unique razor we’ve found that it gives as pure a shave as the Sport without any of the drawbacks!

For all you longtime HeadBladers we’re really happy to have you along for this amazing journey since 1999.  The MOTO is our newest addition and you have a lot to do with it’s development and our growth as a company.

When we kicked off the all new HeadBlade Rewards program last month we announced that the long running Ambassador Program would be retired on August 31st.  Today we officially closed down the Ambassador Program to concentrate our efforts on making the HeadBlade Rewards Program awesome!!

The most apparent difference is when you log into your HeadBlade customer account and see the “HeadBlade Rewards Program” logo.HB_rewards_logoClicking on this logo will bring you to the Reward Points dashboard. From here you will be able to track all your points and how to earn more and redeem them for merchandise and discounts!  It’s pretty slick!

The S4 Is Back In BLACK!

S4 Lunar_01_FBEvery few years we introduce a new Limited Edition HeadBlade and we’re proud to bring the S4 Lunar Eclipse to market in 2016!

We always include S4 in the nomenclature because it has significance; the “S4″ actually stands for “Signature Series Stainless Steel.”  Back in the early 2000’s we had a list of athletes/actors/models/influencers who actively endorsed HeadBlade and we wanted to make a nice permanent ‘jewel’ type razor that elevated the HeadBlade brand and created something even more special.  Even though we stopped using the “Signature Series” tag on endorsers (the number of Signature Series HeadBladers became very large!) we kept the S4 name and concept.

We created the first S4 in 2004, then followed in 2009 with the S4 Shadow, and again in 2012 we released the S4 Eclipse.  When we introduced the all new ATX we had to make an S4 version of that and dubbed it the S4 Shark.   So why would we follow up with a black version of the original design?  Simply; demand.

Over the years we’ve had many ‘original’ HeadBladers, who love the Classic/Sport configuration of pushing, instead of pulling, ask us for one more Limited Edition of that model…as they missed their buying opportunity and want another!

Always set with a production run of 5,000 or less, every S4 Edition has sold out within two years.  Each has been priced around $100.

The newest S4 Lunar Eclipse is set at a production run of 3,000 and we’ve lowered the price to $74.97 as we will not be offering it wholesale to any other accounts (hence we can lower the retail).  It includes free shipping and a free HeadCase.  This is for the loyal HeadBlader that prefers the ORIGINAL design over the ATX, and wants a razor handle that will last for many many years!

The S4 Lunar Eclipse comes with a free HeadCase and includes one HB3 blade.
